Apple might be the
best tablet maker till today because it was first to the race; but, there is a
substantial number of Indians who don't need an iPad and, frankly, will never
be able to afford one. In 1990s, personal computers became commonplace only when
their price had dropped to roughly one week's salary of people. The Indian
government understood the price sensitivity of the Indian consumer and had
introduced a cheapest computing device in the market. In order to reach the
billion people living on less than Rs 10,000 a month, government needed to
develop a tablet that retailed for about Rs 3,000.
The UK based company,
Datawind won the contract of making such a low-priced tablet and launched the
first tab in Oct, 2011. Since then, the company has launched many different
versions of Aakash tablet that also doubles up as a phone.
The commercial version
of Aakash, UbiSlate tablet is also accessible to the general people. But the
students have the opportunity to buy the same tablet at the subsidized rates.
The Android Calling Tablets were smash- hit in India and now,
they are also available in developed countries like US, Canada and UK.
To sum up, UbiSlate is
not a spec-heavy Android tablet, but the tab is affordable connected gimmick
that works decently well and has the potential of changing the lives of many
individuals who won't be able to pay for anything costlier. For more details visit http://www.ubislate.com/
